Vesto PR & Books at the Brooklyn Book Festival
Vesto PR & Books will host a table at the Brooklyn Book Festival this upcoming Sunday, September 16 (booth #613). The largest free literary event in New York City, the festival will be held at Brooklyn Borough Hall, from 10am to 6pm. More information about the readings and exhibitors can be found here .
Vesto’s display will feature books and recent publications from our friends and clients, including Banipal Magazine, Rescue Press, West Virginia University, and Zone Books. While these are four very different publishers in output, background, and approach, in my close work with them, I’ve observed how they all share a profound commitment to their books and authors, taking pride in every detail of the process, from editorial, design, production, printing, and promotion. Their catalogs are a testament to respective vision and consistency over the years, with small teams motivated by shared belief and a wish to do the very best for their authors, whether they be novelists, poets, photographers, filmmakers, translators, political economists, historians, or literary theorists.
Banipal Magazine (London, United Kingdom)
Banipal Magazine is the ever-open window, in English translation, on contemporary literature by Arab authors from wherever they are writing and publishing. An independent magazine, founded in 1998, Banipal’s three issues a year present both established and emerging Arab writers through poems, short stories or excerpts of novels.
Rescue Press (Cleveland, Ohio, Iowa City, Iowa)
Rescue Press is an independent publisher of chaotic and investigative work, founded in the winter of 2009. Rescue publishes work by activists, artists, craftsmen, list-makers, philosophers, poets, scientists, writers, and creative thinkers of all kinds, and is interested in collections of artwork, comics, essays, experiments, how-tos, interrogations, manifestos, notes, poetry, stories, and anything else that is transformative.
West Virginia University Press (Morgantown, West Virginia)
West Virginia University Press is the only university press, and the largest publisher of any kind, in the state of West Virginia. A part of West Virginia University, it publishes books and scholarly journals by authors around the world, with a particular emphasis on Appalachian studies, higher education, and interdisciplinary books about energy and environment. WVU Press also publishes highly regarded works of fiction and creative nonfiction.
Zone Books (Brooklyn, NY)
Zone Books is an independent nonprofit publishing house founded in 1985. The publisher of a select list of titles in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, Zone Books is committed to original English-language texts, as well as to the translation of significant works by contemporary authors.
