Julia Morgan was the first licensed female architect in California. She designed 700+ buildings, including Hearst Castle. Julia was the only woman in her class with a degree in civil engineering. She was the first woman to graduate from the Beaux-Arts in Paris and finished the five-year degree in three years! She became the first woman to receive an architecture license in California. She designed several buildings for/around UC Berkeley, including Berkeley City Club and Hearst Gymnasium.
