Blurred Boundaries
Perspectives on Rock Art of the Greater Southwest
- 2023 INDIES Winner
- Honorable Mention, Nature (Adult Nonfiction)
The photographic work in this volume represents an effort to see ancient paintings and petroglyphs as they are today in their landscape contexts. The artists that created this rock art have long vanished, but their insights and ideas “written in stone” remain. Through Frej’s photographs, they continue to speak from the past, bringing us a diversity of ideas, cosmologies, and beliefs of the first Americans, like all art, blurring the boundaries of time that awe us even today.
