"In the Clutches of the Wicked" centers on the effects of the war in Afghanistan on a policewoman’s family. After being tortured by the Taliban, the husband returns stateside only to be arrested for murder. The family implodes as the husband becomes catatonic and the son is arrested for an unprovoked attack on a homeless man. Finding the true killer is only part of the resolution of this mystery. The larger issue is what it takes for a family shattered by war to begin to heal.
