George W. Crockett spent his life fighting racism and defending the constitutional rights of the oppressed. This book traces his days from law school to the FDR administration; defending the UAW, Communists, and Nelson Mandela. He was the first Black judge in Detroit’s Recorder’s Court, where for the first time, Black litigants would get fair treatment. The New Bethel Church incident followed, along with Crockett’s many years in Congress. This remarkable life, and story, is told here.
