In villages and towns all over Mesoamerica, a full calendar of rites and rituals takes place throughout the year. The photographs depicted here present vignettes of thirteen festivals throughout the year in Mexico and Guatemala. I attended these ceremonies as a respectful outsider, sometimes with only limited knowledge of what to expect. In every case I was overwhelmed afterwards with the desire to know more about what I had just seen and experienced. This book is a result of that desire.
