Having spent far too many years watching colleagues suffer during their performance appraisal process, René Carayol decided to write SPIKE, the motivational acronym that stands for Strengths Positively Identified Kick-Start Excellence. The ongoing obsession with our weaknesses starts at school and continues through our working lives. Our strengths seem to be forgotten as we're encouraged to attain the unattainable.
