"The Lede to Our Undoing" is a journey through queer life in 1970s, Rust Belt America, a time of social rupture. It follows a set of twins in a working-class suburb who come to reject the prejudicial views of their parents. The two affirm diversity in American life, recognizing the struggles of so many minorities––they situate themselves in that history. The boy, Jake, comes to view his queer identity as yet one more type of difference––the twins learn to celebrate difference.
