You’re an Indies Finalist—Tell the World!

Being named an award Finalist is a major accomplishment and a wonderful reason to start up a fresh new publicity and marketing campaign for your book. Here are some ideas

Your online presence:

  • Announce your good news on social media, and rack up the likes, retweets, loves, and pins
  • Update all of your book listings—Edelweiss, GoodReads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop—that it is a 2023 Foreword Reviews INDIES Book of the Year Award Finalist.
  • Report the good news on your website with a blog post about what being a Finalist means to you.
  • Be sure your book’s cover has the INDIES Finalist seal everywhere it appears online.

Reach out to your community:

  • Share the news with your local library. Librarians endeavor to support local authors, so work with them to create an event around your book, or offer to donate some signed copies.
  • Share the news with your local bookstore. If your book is not yet stocked in their store, perhaps this Finalist acknowledgement is just the incentive the buyer needs to bring your book in on consignment or order it from your distributor, wholesaler or publisher.
  • Use being a Finalist as a catalyst to present your book to local businesses—the more places your book is available, the more chances you have to sell copies.

Alert the media:

  • Send out a press release (here is ours) —no one can report on you or your book if they don’t know about it.
  • Think outside the box: local newspaper, Chamber of Commerce, farmer's market, even your college alumni association - all likely have newsletters.

  • Find us on X, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook and share our posts about INDIES Finalists.
  • Tag us in your posts and use the hashtag #ForewordINDIES so we can find your posts and share them with our audience.
  • A lot of people find out about INDIES on Google; your book can show up in more searches by including “Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards Finalist” in your book’s description wherever it appears online.
  • Purchase INDIES Finalist foil seals and proudly stick them on your front cover. The seals could also grace your hard copy press release, sell sheet, thank you notes and/or marketing material you mail.
  • Consider booking a spot in the “Congratulations INDIES Finalists” advertising showcase in the May/June Issue of Foreword Reviews magazine. Or set up a custom print + digital advertising campaign across several months to keep the momentum going for your award winning title.
