Starred Review:

Archie and Pip

The First Day of School

A softened primary palette reflects the gentle nature of this picture book about two brothers facing and overcoming back-to-school anxieties. Pip is starting first grade; he’s worried that his little brother, Archie, won’t need him once he makes new friends at kindergarten. Archie is counting down to kindergarten; he’s nervous about everything. The platypus and pig brothers are joined by a lion dad, a crocodile mom, a goat teacher, and a host of other animals in this charming, reassuring book.
