Armed with guidebook, clipboard, and binoculars, Jay and his mom head out to look for birds in the winter woods during the annual Christmas Bird Count, an important event for tracking bird populations across North, Central, and South America. Amateur ornithologists are encouraged to visit the Audubon’s website or use the checklist provided in the end pages to participate in their own bird count, joining thousands of others in promoting animal conservation and education.
