A Jataka Tale
The Jataka tales chronicle the many past lives of the Buddha, and this picture book follows one in which he is a compassionate, pure white elephant, Sati. His mother protects him, always taking care of him ahead of herself. As she grows older, Sati returns the favor—until he is captured by the king. Moved by Sati’s selflessness, the king releases Sati to care for his mother, and the endless circle of compassion continues.
