Jitterbug
With illustrations that evoke animated films, this picture book encourages children to dance to the beat of their own drums. Lady B. Marie, known as Jitterbug, is a ladybug who lives and breathes rock ‘n’ roll; the other meadow-dwellers have more tranquil sensibilities. A traveling band of beetles recognizes her talent and gives Jitterbug a chance to prove herself. The colorful illustrations include nods to rock ‘n’ roll, including a beetle’s spiked cloak and the lightning bolt streaking down Lady B’s face.
