The Endfixer

This tongue-in-cheek picture book celebrates the creation—and the conclusions—of stories. The unnamed narrator describes their childhood desire to be an endfixer, “someone who fixes the ends of stories” because some endings are “too complicated,” “too censored,” or just plain “too long.” The illustrations are humorous and whimsical, as with a newlywed worm couple kissing in the window of an apple carriage to accompany “too mushy.” In the end, the narrator determines there is no end at all—to stories or our imaginations.
