The Endless Sea
Haunting but hopeful, this powerful picture book offers age-appropriate insights into the lives of refugees. A girl is caught in the aftermath of the Vietnam War; in the dead of night, her family flees, escaping on a rickety boat. When their boat begins to sink after a storm and an approaching vessel seems slow to render aid, the girl fears for her life. Even though they are ultimately among “the lucky ones,” the journey leaves her family forever changed.
